What's Up TV Training

Applications for Autumn 2018 have now closed. We will be recruiting again later on this year for a March 2019 start. Follow us on social media to be kept up to date with when applications open again.

About the Training:

A unique aspect of our training model is that it puts participants into a 'real-time' work situation during which they  work in a tightly knit team to produce 6 half hour episodes of a broadcast-quality magazine TV show called ‘What’s Up TV’, which is aired on Sky 1. Find out more about the show on www.whatsuptv.co.uk.

Who is it for?

The training is full time and for 18-25 year-olds. Applicants must not be in full time education or employment if accepted onto the training. They must have been living in the UK for a minimum of a year and have the right to work in the UK. You should also reside in the UK at the time of application.  It is primarily aimed at young people from under-represented backgrounds and those with limited educational or employment opportunities, including unemployed graduates.

Duration: 14 weeks of intensive hands on training with 6 months of follow-up career support. The training is full time, Mondays-Fridays and will involve working some weekends. We require flexibility and complete availability from participants.

Location: The training takes place at Sky Osterley Campus, TW7 5QD.

Financial Support: Trainees will receive a training allowance (minimum wage based on a 30hrs week). Please note the 1st 4 weeks of free training are not paid, and the remaining 10 weeks are paid at national minimum wage and are paid a month in arrears. We also do not provide any accommodation for trainees.

Training Dates: 10th of September – 14th of December 2018. Trainee Production Manager and Trainee Production Coordinator start earlier on the 6th of September 2018.

Industry Placements: Trainees who are successful in completing the Autumn 2018 training programme will go onto paid work placements at Sky, Endemol Shine Group and Procam TV. Please note that industry placements can start anytime between the end of the training and early January 2019.
