MAMA Youth Project has a strong relationship with the Cultural Diversity Network (CDN). This organisation awarded Bob Clarke the Special Recognition Award for promoting diversity at the CDN Awards in November 2009.
The CDNs members are made up from all the major broadcast companies including: BSkyB, BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Virgin Media, MTV, ITN and Pact. Collectively these broadcasters are taking steps to improve diversity within the media industry. MAMA Youth Project strongly supports all of CDNs aims, in particular their Diversity Pledge.
The Diversity Pledge is a public commitment by independent production companies, in-house producers and other suppliers to take measurable steps to improve diversity in the industry.
The CDN launched the Diversity Pledge with Pact in 2009, and the support of the Broadcasting & Creative Industries Disability Network (BCIDN). The BCIDN helps promote real opportunities for disabled people on screen and in production.
The pledge is split into 4 sections covering different aspects of diversity with practical suggestions on how to improve representation. The approach is flexible – its up to individual companies to set their own agenda.
Recruiting fairly and from as wide a base as possible and encouraging industry entrants and production staff from diverse backgrounds.
Encouraging diversity in output.
Encouraging diversity at senior decision-making levels.
Taking part in, or running, events that promote diversity.
Having a working relationship with MAMA Youth Project will help you meet the requirements of this diversity pledge. At the same time, it can help you find the right person for a job, no matter what their cultural or economic background.
Please contact us to discuss how we can help you meet the pledge.
