Digital and Broadcast Media Training 2025

Apply now for 8 weeks of FREE intensive digital and broadcast media training delivered by the BAFTA winning charity MAMA Youth and BAFTA winning company, Licklemor Productions. Our award winning training can grant you instant industry access while teaching you how to excel in production across multiple platforms.

You will master the tools and techniques required to succeed in a ‘real life’ collaborative and fast paced environment. Our unique training model provides practical hands-on experience in content creation while working within a production company. Participants will finish the training with a working knowledge of the multi-disciplinary skills required for entry level employment in the industry.

Upon successful completion, trainees will become MAMA Youth Project Alumni and join our prestigious talent pool, providing benefits such as 6 months professional Talent Manager support, industry professional mentoring and exclusive access to apply for jobs with our industry partners, such as Warner Bros Entertainment, Disney,  ITV, BBC Studios, Banijay, Fremantle Media, Gravity Media, Sister, ES Broadcast, Buzz16 and many more.

About the training:

The training is an intensive bootcamp where participants are assessed based on their work ethics and commitment. A unique aspect of our training model is that it puts participants into a 'real-time' work situation during which they work independently, as well as in a tight knit team, to produce content under supervision and guidance from experienced professionals at Licklemor Productions.

The Skills You Will Gain:


  • End to end digital media content creation for Licklemor Productions social media platforms, which includes developing ideas, call sheets, production paperwork, location sound recording, camera, lighting and video editing.
  • How to schedule, publish and distribute content, as well as monitor analytics to engage and grow an audience.
  • Successful candidates will also gain production etiquette, fundamental work ethics, CV tailoring, interview techniques, career mentorship and peer networking.  


Geared towards early career candidates, It’s all about tangible outcomes on MAMA Youth Project’s award winning training and aspiring content creators can gain a first industry credit as part of the programme. Live Online Information Sessions & In Person Taster Sessions:


We will run online information sessions where you can meet with a member of the team, learn more about the training, gain tips about the application process and ask any questions you may have. 

The in person taster sessions will be more in depth and, as well as providing insight into our training, it will also cover career pathways with a professional talent manager, as well as CV and networking advice. Further information about these sessions HERE.

Who is it for?

The training is open to all those aged 18-30 and who are residents of the UK. Upon enrolment we will require successful applicants to provide ID and proof of address, such as a bank statement, a bill or a driving license. The training is based in London and travel expenses will be covered within Greater London.

Applicants must not be in full time / part time education (this includes taking a gap year) or employment if accepted onto the training. They must have been living in the UK for a minimum of a year, have the right to live and work in the UK and have indefinite leave to remain, settled status or pre-settled status. Short term work visas, such as a graduate visa, will not be accepted due to the nature of our governing body requirements. 

It is primarily aimed at individuals from under-represented or challenging backgrounds and those with limited educational or employment opportunities, including unemployed graduates. MAMA Youth Project is committed to providing a truly inclusive training and working environment.

Duration:

The training lasts for just over 8 weeks and is full time, Mondays - Fridays. Trainees are required to attend every day and be fully available. Outside office hours may be required when filming, including weekends. We require flexibility and complete availability from participants. 

Participants who successfully complete the training become alumni and will have their professional profile on the MAMA Youth Talent Pool, which is exclusively viewed by industry partners. Alumni also have the opportunity to apply for jobs that are advertised daily to our Talent Team and will also receive 6 months’ career follow up support, in addition to mentoring by an industry professional.

Please note that industry work opportunities may begin as soon as the training finishes so candidates should make sure they are available to take opportunities and build on their industry work experience. Candidates who are successful in completing the 8 weeks training programme will become a MAMA Youth Alumni. Being an alumnus means you will be part of our talent pool and have access to apply for jobs with our industry partners that are exclusively advertised to our talent pool on a daily basis. The training programme is built to kick start your career and open doors to what is a traditionally gated industry.

Dates:

Training Dates: 

  • Trainee Production Manager and Trainee Production Coordinator roles start training on Monday the 13th of January 2025.
  • All other roles start training on Friday the 17th of January 2025. 
  • All roles finish training on Friday 14th of March 2025.


Interview Dates: all shortlisted applicants from the application form stage will be required to attend a full day activity based group interview, London location to be confirmed. For your application to proceed you need to be available to attend the interview for your particular chosen role and unfortunately dates are not flexible. The interview dates are:


  • Trainee Production Manager and Trainee Production Coordinator: Monday 25th November, 10am-6pm.
  • Trainee Video Editor: Wednesday 27th November, 10am-6pm.
  • Trainee Camera Operator and Trainee Location Sound Recordist: Monday 2nd December, 10am-6pm.
  • Trainee Researcher: Wednesday 4th, Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th of December. Candidates for this role will be required to attend one of the three dates from 10am-6pm.

Apply by Monday  the 28th of October 2024, 11.59pm (applications received after the deadline will not be considered). 

You will find out if you have been shortlisted for the assessment day by Monday the 25th of November. If you have not been contacted by the 25th of November it means you were not shortlisted for an interview on this occasion and our team will send an email sign posting opportunities as soon as we have the capacity to do so.

Cost and Financial Support:

The training is free. Travel expenses within Greater London will be covered, as well as lunch expenses. Equipment will be provided throughout the duration of the training.
